Professor and author Cecelia Tichi writes that Vanderbilt can use its power as a private institution to speak in a language that the fossil fuel companies understand: dollars and cents. “Vanderbilt and other universities ought to kiss goodbye to fossil fuel energy stocks. Money talks. Its voice reaches into the high-decibel range. The health of the planet — perhaps the survival of civilization — requires marketplace pressure now. Divest, divest.”
